Levera National Park & Bathway Beach

Levera National Park.The 450-acre national treasure holds a strong reputation as Grenada’s most scenic and spectacular coastal area. Its picture-perfect beach is quite popular on weekends, and its lagoon is one of the most important wildlife habitats on the island. Consisting of an extensive mangrove swamp, the lagoon is a haven for an abundance of bird species, including many herons, black-necked stilts, common snipes, and other waterfowl. Levera’s marine areas are equally esteemed, with outstanding coral reefs and sea grass beds that shelter lobsters and beautiful reef fishes. The beaches are also a hatchery for sea turtles, which are protected from May to September. Among the pleasant walks at Levera is a trail that circles the lagoon.

Annadale Falls

Located about 15 minutes north of St. George's. Is 15metres high (50ft) this is the most accessible of all the waterfalls to get to take a dip in the falls' pool, with a well manicured path which is lined with local fruit trees and flowering plants. It is also one of the smaller of all the waterfalls, and is a favourite stop off point of interest for cruise and stayover visitors.

Lake Grand Etang

Situated high in the tropical rain forests, the volcanic crater Grand Etang lake is surrounded by mountain peaks which are often obsured by clouds. This unique environment is home to a wide variety of fish and colourful birds inhabit the lake marshes.

Grenada Dove

Bird watchers will love the trip to Mt Hartman Sanctuary to spot the rare Grenada Dove  that is found no where else on earth.

Fedon's Camp

In 1795 Julian Fedon, a coloured Grenadian chosen by French undercover agents to lead a rebellion against the British. Fedon's coffee and cocoa plantation located in Belvedere, in the parish of St. John's, was an ideal spot for his headquarters. Chosen for its inaccessiblity. Fedon's objective was to remove the British from Grenada and free the enslaved. The attack started simultaneously in Grenville and Gouyave. Many slaves welcomed the opportunity of freedom and joined Fedon's army. The Rebellion lasted 15 months. Resulting in a massive loss of lives and was finally overthrown by the british military command led by General Nicholls.

Nutmeg Plant

Gouyave

Known as the fishing village. One of the town's annual celebrations is Fisherman's Birthday. On June 29, fishermen come from all over Grenada for competitive boat racing, entertainment, fish foods, and many other activities.

St Mark's

St Mark's is the smallest parish on the island but has the highest mountain  Mount Saint Catherine

(Elevation: 2,756′),  and the tallest waterfall, the Tufton Hall Waterfall.

Concord Falls

If you like to hike, then this is a treat. The Concord waterfalls is not one, but three waterfalls. It is situated on the edge of the forest reserve on the western side of the island, and therefore the water is crystal clear and ice cold.

Of the three waterfalls in this area, the first one is the most readily access able, with a paved road leading almost directly up to it. There is nothing like a taking a bracing dip in a cool mountain stream, so we do suggest that you walk with the necessary clothing.

The second of the three falls is bigger and taller, and is reached only after a 45 minute hike. The trail goes through a nutmeg plantation and is readily marked, but a guide is still necessary. However, if you would like a guided tour with someone who can show you the different types of cultivated plants and their uses, then a guide is a must.

The third fall is a little off the beaten track, but the trail is easily recognisable. If you are planning on visiting all three of the falls, then we suggest that you plan on spending a morning and pack a light lunch and some refreshments.

* Advisory. Swim with caution there are dangerous undercurrents in the pool. Children and amateur swimmers should not be  allowed to swim.

                     Grand Etang Forest & Etang

After  two and a half miles  of steep winding roads framed with lofty bamboo and fern trees an elevation of 1900ft, you enter Grand Etang National Park, an eco tour delight filled with fascinating hiking trails. At the visitor center you can learn a little about the park and get a refreshment.

Carib's Leap

In 1650 a french expedition from Martinique landed on Grenada receiving a friendly welcome from the inhabitants. Eventually relations soured. The French then bought in reinforcements and overthrew the population. Look for Sauteurs, the parish capital of St. Patrick’s on the north coast. Caribs’ Leap in Sauteurs was named after this episode when over 40 Caribs, cornered by the French, leapt to their death rather than surrender.
